Description

A ridiculously easy recipe for homemade focaccia bread, requiring no special equipment or techniques, perfect for anyone craving soft, chewy bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • Flaky salt for topping
  • Herbs (optional)
  • Chopped garlic or cherry tomatoes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl, and let it get bubbly.
  2. Stir in flour, salt, and olive oil until shaggy and sticky.
  3. Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes.
  4. Grease a baking pan and spread the dough into it, poking dimples with your fingers.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with flaky salt. Add herbs or other toppings if desired.
  6. Bake until the top is golden and crisp, about 20-25 minutes.
  7. Let cool slightly before slicing and enjoy!

Notes

The dough should be sticky; do not add extra flour. Allow the dough to rest for at least 45 minutes for the best texture. It’s also forgiving, so don’t worry about making mistakes.
