- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup buttermilk (or milk with lemon juice)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- For the topping: 1/4 cup granulated sugar + 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan with butter or parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the buttermilk.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Serve slightly warm with butter or paired with coffee or tea. You can also freeze slices for later enjoyment.
