Description

A delightful blend of chocolate and vanilla, this Homemade Marble Loaf Cake offers a beautiful swirl and a moist, tender crumb for a comforting treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter in half; add cocoa powder mixed with hot water to one half and mix until combined.
  7. In the prepared loaf pan, spoon alternating dollops of the vanilla and chocolate batters.
  8. Use a knife to swirl through the batters gently.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a beautiful glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk and vanilla to drizzle over the cooled cake.
