Description

Quick and easy homemade dinner rolls that are warm, pillowy, and ready in just one hour.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 34 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup softened butter (plus extra for brushing)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Stir in salt, butter, egg, and half the flour. Mix until sticky.
  3. Gradually add more flour until dough is soft and slightly tacky. Knead for a couple of minutes.
  4. Cover the bowl and let sit in a warm place for 15 minutes to rise.
  5. Shape dough into golf balls and place in a greased pan. Cover and let puff for 20 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 15-18 minutes until golden.
  7. Brush with melted butter while still hot and serve immediately.

Notes

Use softened butter for mixing and brush hot rolls with more melted butter for extra flavor. Rolls freeze well; reheat in a low oven.
