Description

A healthy and simple homemade dog cake made with sweet potatoes and oatmeal, perfect for pampering your furry friend.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato (about 1 medium, roasted or microwaved and cooled)
  • 1 cup rolled oats (old-fashioned)
  • 2 eggs (or flax egg if there’s an allergy)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (without xylitol)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mash the sweet potato in a bowl until smoothish.
  2. Add rolled oats and mix until sticky.
  3. Crack in the eggs and add applesauce, yogurt, and peanut butter; stir well.
  4. If using, add a pinch of cinnamon and mix until thick and gloopy.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased cake pan or muffin tin.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes until the edges are golden and the center feels firm.
  7. Allow to cool completely before serving to your dog.

Notes

Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze slices in a bag.
